I know what you're thinking. Shouldn't we start out with tips on writing? Editing? Plotting? We'll get there, I promise. And as important as all of those things are, there is one other important thing that most people don't consider: the people in our lives. So, my tip for you on this Tuesday is: have people.
There is a belief that all writers are introverts, but that's actually not true. There are some writers who are extroverts, and some ambiverts out there too. And even if you are a writer and an introvert, you still need people. Not a whole crowd, but two or three will do. (Alright fine, only one.) What you need is someone whom you trust that will be honest and who wants to support you in your work. It is this person that you can go to for advice, to bounce questions off of, and you know that they are pushing you to grow creatively. If your "person" is a writer, that's wonderful! But they don't have to be. Even just being normal people, they still bring their own unique perspective to the table.
When you find that person, stick with them. Allow them to come in to some of your writing space and they will thank you for it. I'm not saying you have to be with them all the time, or always bombard them with questions, but you will find that when you need advice or just someone to help you with your Pinterest character boards, they are more than willing to do so.
So what am I really saying? It's simple: Go find a person!
And in case you need a bit more pushing, here you go: GO FIND A PERSON!
then, run back to your writers cave.
you can rest until tomorrow. :)
